Day 28. Colorado Springs & Manitou Springs〜コロラドスプリングスとマニトウプリングス〜

今日は３年前のお話です。
僕の家族が日本からハワイへお引越しする前に
コロラドスプリングスと言う場所へ行きました。
ここにはダディーの両親と弟が住んでいます。
マミーとにぃにはとっても楽しんだんだって〜！
だけどね、ほとんど毎日雨と雷、そして雹が降って大変だったんだって〜。
This is a story of 3 years ago. My family went to Colorado Springs for 3 weeks before they moved to Hawaii from Japan. Daddy's parents and a younger brother live there. Everyone had a great time in Colorado, but mommy said it was really cloudy, rainy, and they even had hail too.

７月末〜８月の中旬迄３週間いたんだけど、すごく寒かったよって言ってたよ〜。
They said it was very cold up there.

それじゃ〜コロラドのお話です。
コロラドスプリングスは日本の富士吉田市と姉妹都市です。
富士山のすぐ麓にあるところなんだって。
Anyway, about Colorado Springs... Colorado Springs is a sister city of Fuji-Yoshida city in Japan. Fuji-Yoshida city is right below Mt. Fuji.

夏は普段雨が降らず乾燥して、気温もと〜〜〜っても暑いんだそうです。
今年はコロラドスプリングスで大きな森林火災がおきて、
ダディーが昔住んでいた家の近く迄燃えてしまったそうです。
僕の家族が行った場所全てが避難区域だったんだって。
僕は経験した事ないけど、きっと大きな火災って怖いよね。
Usually Colorado is very dry, no rain, and very hot. There was a bad forest fire this year that burned a lot of places and houses. The fire came down really close to daddy's old house :( It was really sad to see the pictures :( Most of the places my family visited were in the evacuate zone. I've never had any experience with such a huge fire, but it must be scary...

そんな乾燥するはずの夏のコロラド、マミー達がいる時は気温もとても低く、
雨がいっぱい降りました。
なのでたくさん虹をみれたんだって。
ハワイにいると虹は毎日見れるんだけどね。
でもコロラドでは珍しいからおばあちゃん達は喜んでたみたい。
So now you know how dry Colorado summer is. But while my family was there, temperature was pretty low and rained a lot, so they saw a lot of rainbows :) We are in Hawaii, so we can see rainbows almost everyday, but it's more rare in Colorado Springs, so grandma was pretty happy to see the rainbows :D  

 

家の周りで２重の虹が沢山かかってたよ。

We even saw some double rainbows around grandparents' house :D

ここはマニトウースプリングスと言う場所です。
ここは火災の時、煙がスゴかったんだって。
This is a picture from Manitou Springs. I heard they had very bad  smoke when Colorado had the forest fire.

ハワイではみれない、とっても広い景色だなぁ〜。
僕もいつか一緒にコロラドに行きたいなぁ！
Colorado has lots of wide open space that we don't have in Hawaii :)
 I hope I can go there with my family someday!
